The recording project was born from a live show for piano solo and video projections that Isabella Turso presented as a world premiere at the prestigious National Opera Center in New York in March 2014, later replicated at the Ateneo Veneto in Venice and at the MUSE – Museum of Science in Trento.
 Isabella describes the genesis of the recording project as follows: « The path of the Venetian artist Pino Donaggio, from classical music to the successes of pop music and those of soundtracks, ideally approached my idea of making music without barriers and limitations of genre and repertoire. I therefore dedicated myself with pleasure and passion to an undertaking that resulted in this piano collection. I mainly used themes taken from soundtracks, to which I added two songs, as well as Past Shadows, which I composed for piano starting from a theme proposed to me by Donaggio himself. In the other 13 tracks on the album, I avoided arranging Donaggio's themes in their entirety and preferred to recreate them using quotes that could give life to personal elaborations, or free paraphrases capable of projecting the thematic inspiration into a classical-pop-jazz setting, which is particularly congenial to me. In choosing the titles I had fun playing freely with anagrams, quotes and extravagant inventions. I believe that my work does not betray the nature of each piece, but rather tends to extend its expressive possibilities, beyond the original context, and can above all represent a colorful tribute to a great Italian musician. I chose to record the pieces on a 1931 Steinway & Sons grand piano, capable of conveying the “romantic” atmosphere that pervades this music.
 The album will be released on August 30th during Isabella Turso's Passion Piano Concert at the Hotel Excelsior on the Lido in Venice and will be presented to the public at CinemArcord on Sunday September 10th at 8:00 pm at the Lo Schermo Bianco cinema at the Daste Bistrò in Bergamo, with the participation of the composer and Pino Donaggio.
